چکیده
Lithium dendrite growth in Li-ion batteries is one of the most dangerous phenomena because it can cause inner short circuits and thermal runaways. However, nucleation dendrites are difficult to predict their complex behaviors, which depend on several factors such as charging conditions electrode-design parameters. In this study, a comprehensive mathematical model has been developed for Li-deposition battery electrodes. The based Single Particle (to evaluate concentration fields) combined with dendrite-growth models electrochemical crystal theory. effect SEI thickness distribution, C-rate cut-off voltage tips have statistically evaluated, risk circuit discussed. study focuses effects SEI-thickness distribution timing breaking density formation.

Li MAS NMR spectroscopy was used to study the failure mechanisms of LiNi0.8Co0.15Al0.05O2 electrodes in Li-ion cells. Three sets of electrodes with different degrees of power fade (0%, 9% and 23%) were studied. The three electrodes were charged to various states of charge (0%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100%) in pouch cells which were subsequently disassembled for NMR analysis. The lithium NMR shifts of...

A method for preparing multiphasic hollow rods consisting of nanoscale Sn-based materials through a thermochemical reduction process involving bacteria and Sn oxides is reported. This facile process involves the bacteria-mediated synthesis of SnO(2) nanoparticles that form on bacterial surfaces used as templates at room temperature. The subsequent template removal proceeds via a reduction of th...
متن کاملParticle-Level Modeling of the Charge-Discharge Behavior of Nanoparticulate Phase-Separating Li-Ion Battery Electrodes
In nanoparticulate phase-separating electrodes, phase separation inside the particles can be hindered during their charge/discharge cycles even when a thermodynamic driving force for phase separation exists. In such cases, particles may (de)lithiate discretely in a process referred to as mosaic instability. This instability could be the key to elucidating the complex charge/discharge dynamics i...
متن کاملMathematical modeling of the capacity fade of Li-ion cells
A capacity fade prediction model has been developed for Li-ion cells based on a semi-empirical approach. Correlations for variation of capacity fade parameters with cycling were obtained with two different approaches. The first approach takes into account only the active material loss, while the second approach includes rate capability losses too. Both methods use correlations for variation of ...
